Working with Parkinson’s

Working with Parkinson’s (WWP) is a networking group for those who are seeking a community of active people with Parkinson’s. We meet monthly at the Miami Township Branch Library on the fourth Thursday of the month at 2 p.m.

One of our strengths is that many of us participate in the Parkinson’s exercise classes at the Neuro Rehab and Balance Center. https://ketteringhealth.org/services/neurorehab-balance/?utm_source=gmb&utm_medium=Yext Our meeting is right before one of the 4 p.m. classes. This is an integral part of our group. Give them a call to find out the class schedule.

Our Mission

Our networking group provides an open atmosphere to discuss issues concerning Parkinson’s. Members include those with Parkinson’s and their caregivers. We discuss a variety of Parkinson’s topics and occasionally invite special guests. Our mission is to support one another through the Parkinson’s journey and share how Parkinson’s affects all of us.

Our History

The WWP first began with two people who wanted to meet others who had Parkinson’s and were employed. The group has grown into a group of people who want to discuss and learn more about Parkinson’s. There is a strong core group of people who attend and support each other through these crazy times. We are now a group of retirees and together, we are working our way through the Parkinson’s journey.

Location

Dayton Metro Library, Miami Township Branch Library 2718 Lyons Rd. Miamisburg, OH 45342. Meet in the community meeting room.

Testimonials

I joined this group at its beginning and found it very beneficial to talk to others who also had PD. My problems were their problems and we could help and relate to each other

– Bill

I started attending WWP meetings two years into my life-with-Parkinson’s. I didn’t expect to be helped by the group — why seek out help from a group when Parkinson’s is most famous for affecting people so differently? — but I thought there might be a way of getting some questions answered. Turns out that the group was full of straight shooters, kind and generous listeners, and people who provide encouragement. Even though the Coronavirus has interrupted our face-to-face meetings, I have noticed that nothing has more of a salutary effect on my life than attending WWP meetings.

I have enjoyed being a member of the WWP Parkinson’s Support Group for a year now. I look forward to our monthly sessions so that I can see my community of friends, many of whom are going through the same experiences that I am. Members of the support group are very kind and respectful of one another and I am truly grateful for the enrichment and sense of well – being that the support group provides for each individual.
