Reader’s Theatre

How many of you have voice issues which result in a voice that cracks, shakes, and is raspy? Would you like to improve that? Research shows that 89% of people with Parkinson’s will have issues with their voice. Exercising your voice will help your voice remain strong.  I belong to a Reader’s Theatre group that reads scripts together out loud.  The scripts are light-hearted and funny and we take turns playing the different characters.  It is organized by my good friend Marilyn.  She does a fantastic job at picking the scripts.  We have resumed meeting in person and are meeting at the NeuroRehab and Balance Center in Centerville.

Anyone who has Parkinson’s is welcome to the Reader’s Theatre.  Our group will meet on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at 5 pm. I really hope you will come and see what we are all about.  This is a  chance to use your voice and connect with others simultaneously.  It’s a lot of fun.  Please email Marilyn Klaben at marilynklaben@gmail.com.

The NeuroRehab and Balance Center offers free exercise classes in person for people with Parkinson’s thanks to a grant from the Parkinson’s Support & Wellness. The instructors all specialize in Parkinson’s and they have a variety of exercises for everyone. The high-level class meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4 pm. You can attend the exercise class at 4 pm and then come to the Reader’s Theatre. Exercise your body and your voice. I hope to see you there.

Here are directions to the NeuroRehab and Balance Center. They are located on the campus of Kettering Health Washington Township (previously known as Southview Hospital). NeuroRehab’s address is 7677 Yankee Street Suite 210 Centerville, OH. 45459. Please call 937-401-6109 if you have any questions about the exercise program or the Reader’s Theatre.
